Background ~

I adopted Rémi and George in December 2025. They were about 1Y and 3M at the time so already a bit old for rats. But I decided to take them because this was going to be the fisrt time I was going to adopt rats and I didn't mind having older rats for a first try. I have always wanted rats for a very long time so I took the plunge after much consideration and because I am in a more "stable" time of my life so I can definitely afford to take care of a pet and I live in a place which permits it better (I'm no longer in a student dorm).

Rémi and George as far as I know used to belong to a women who I believe due to her pregnancy developped an allergy towards rats so she had to surrender them. They were then in foster care fo about 3 to 4 months.

I definitely had a hard time having to pick between a bunch of cute rats but I chose them and I'm happy to give them a nice and comfortable life.

While I love them very much, George can be quite skittish and he doesn't like it when I try to pick him up. He can be a bit of a hand full so most of the time I leave him alone and I let him just come up to me. He isn't shy when it comes to asking me for treats tho haha. But he can be a bit of a pain when I let him free roam and I need to put him back in the cage, he is so slippery and difficult to put back in.

Rémi on the other hand is very easy, he let's himself be picked up very easily. He is a very calm rat but he is not a huge fan of cuddles just like George. He is also alot more active than his brother so he roams alot in my place while I'm there and he has his favorite sleeping places. But don't bee fooled by his cutness because he is an ankle bitter lol.
